Karnataka TET examination eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria for the Karnataka TET examinations in 2023 would be on the following lines –
Primary Teachers (Class 1 to 5)
The minimum qualification is Intermediate (Class 12) with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). They should also pass a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI. Ed) or Bachelor of Elementary Education with at least 45 – 50% of marks. You may also apply for the final year of D.EI.Ed/ Bachelor of Elementary Education.
Upper Primary Teachers (Class 6 to 8)
The minimum qualification needed for Upper Primary Teachers is a Bachelor’s degree (B. A/ B.Sc./ B. Com/ B. Tech/ BBA etc.,) with a minimum of 45% – 50% marks. He should pass the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI. Ed)/ Bachelor of Education (B. Ed). You can also apply if you are studying in the final-year D.EI. Ed/ B.Ed.
The KARTET 2023 examination pattern
The examination pattern for the Karnataka TET examination is followed in the following lines.
- The exam consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- You will need to apply for Paper 1 only if you are desirous of being the teacher for classes 1 to 5
- You will need to attend both Paper 1 and Paper 2 if you are looking to be the teacher for classes 6 to 8
Subjects for the examination would include
Paper 1 – Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
Paper 2 – Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Science, social science
Both papers 1 and 2 will have 150 questions at one mark each. There are no negative markings for wrong answers.
